The Fire Danger Period commenced on November 19 in Nillumbik Shire. Which means it’s now time to slash or mow your grass, pasture, and (heaven forbid) weeds. Don’t forget the grass needs to be maintained below 10cm, for at least 10m around your boundary. And we need to keep it that way!
It’s also important to clear up dead branches and vegetation, and clean away fine fuels such as leaves, twigs and dry lawns.
Nillumbik is starting to dry out, particularly north of Hurstbridge and around through Yarrambat, but even if you’re still green now is the time to get it down.
With the longer days, we can work around your schedule – slashing, mowing and trimming in the evenings or weekends.
