Afternoon / Evening Cleaner (Education)

Role Overview

We currently have a vacancy for a highly professional cleaner in the areas around Hurstbridge and Warrandyte.

This is a casual position, and the work requirements may vary from week to week.

In general the work will be around 2 hours per night, four nights per week (all weeknights), during school terms.  The exact starting time is flexible, but must be after 5:30pm (to ensure the facilities are available for cleaning).

The work involves cleaning preschools on a daily basis – ensuring that the preschool environment and facilities are in perfect shape for when the staff and students arrive the next day.

Duties and Work of the Role

Duties of the role include:

  • Daily clean of preschool facilities, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and cleaning kitchens, bathrooms, toilets, benchtops, mirrors, doors, etc.
  • Reasonable physical work including moving chairs and tables, placing chairs in position for the following day, and taking out rubbish bags; removing dried playdough from carpets; handling heavy equipment such as vacuums and mop buckets; repetitive motion work such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming.
  • Communicating with preschool staff when they are on site at the same time as cleaning is taking place.
  • Working alone at the preschool facilities, and ensuring all security systems and locks are secured before leaving.

The Right Person for this Role

When we clean educational facilities, it is critical that cleaning is done completely, thoroughly, and consistently.  The highest quality job must be done every night, to protect the health and safety of the kids who attend the preschools, and the staff and parents who are there with them.

The right person for this role believes in attention to detail, in doing the job right every time (even if it takes a little extra time), and in making sure everything is 100% before leaving for the night.  They will need to be able to work independently and diligently, and be very good at open communications with other Greenline staff, and potentially with staff at the preschools and schools.

The right person for this role will be reliable and very open with communication.  For example letting us know when they’re going to be unavailable to work, and being open to getting feedback on what they’re doing well and not so well.

Ideally, the person for this role will have experience as a professional cleaner, either in a school or kindergarten setting, or residential.  We also provide additional training to help all our staff keep getting better over time.

What We Offer

We believe in providing our staff with the best working environment possible.  We pay above award rates, and work as a team to ensure we’re all highly productive and delivering great outcomes for our customers.

While the role is a casual position, we provide consistent work four nights of each week where possible.

You will need to provide your own transport to and from the facilities is required, but all other equipment and materials are provided.

To work in this role you must hold a current Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance.
